WWE SUPERSTAR DARREN YOUNG IS GAY! (supported by his colleagues)

WWE superstar Darren Young has told a reporter for TMZ.com, he's gay..

Darren made the revelation at Los Angeles airport, when he was asked whether a gay wrestler could succeed in WWE, and Darren laughed, replying:

"Absolutely. Look at me. I'm a WWE superstar and to be honest with you, I'll tell you right now, I'm gay. And I'm happy. I'm very happy."

This makes Darren the first openly gay wrestler ever at WWE ... and the first headlining wrestler ever to come out while still signed to a major promotion. Other pro wrestlers have been rumored to be gay, but that's it ... just rumors.

Bottom line: this kind of big news is tantamount to coming out in other male dominated sports like football, basketball etc

Darren Young told the wrestling org. he is "deeply in love" with his boyfriend of 2 years (a man named Nick). I was told Young (whose real name is Fred Rosser) has been living with Nick for some time now in Florida.

Meanwhile, Darren Young is also receiving full support from his colleagues and the WWE ... 

John Cena had praise for Young's decision. 

"Oh, wonderful, Good for him. That's fantastic ... I know Darren personally. Darren's a great guy. That's a very bold move for him. And congratulations for him for actually finally doing it." he said when told of the news.

Cena whose older brother is gay, added that he expected this wouldn't have any effect on his work.

"It's all about being professional, and Darren Young is a consummate professional, For us, it's entertainment, and if you're entertaining you shouldn't be judged by race, creed, color or sexuality ... as long as you're entertaining." Cena said.

WWE says it's "proud of Darren Young for being open about his sexuality."

A rep for the organization adds, "We will continue to support him as a WWE Superstar.  Today, in fact, Darren will be participating in one of our Be A Star anti-bullying rallies in Los Angeles to teach children how to create positive environments for everyone regardless of age, race, religion or sexual orientation."

Of note: at the time of this writing, Young's Twitter description reads, "As comfortable in the VIP section as he is in the ring, Darren Young’s life revolves around three things — money, women and wrestling." 

We'll have to see if that changes any time soon.
