WIZKID IS CROWNED NIGERIA'S KING OF TWITTER

WizkId, Ayo Balogun, has surpassed other Nigerian entertainers in terms of popularity, going by a recent check on  twitter followers

Though the 24-year-old 'Holla at your boy' crooner burst into limelight about 4 years ago, he now has followers totaling over 720,000 while next in line to him, D'Banj, is a long shot away with followers less than 400,000 people.

D'banj is followed by Tuface Idibia and Wizkid's music rival Davido.

For sometime now, leading social media, twitter has been the litmus test to measure popularity, especially among entertainers the world over. Lady Gaga got so big she felt she should have a social media of her own, hence 'Little Monsters' was born.

Globally, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber are the most popular entertainers alive.

Tuface whose real name is Innocent Uji Idibia met his former bandmate Augustine Amedu popularly known as Blackface in September, 1987 at St. Gabriel Secondary School, Markudi, Benue State.

The chance meeting occurred the first day Tuface resumed as a J.S,S 1 student of the school. While strutting about the school premises in his new uniform,sandals, bag, and stuff; feeling like an award winner (which he now has many to showcase), a J.S.S 2 student barked "Hey, come here! What is your name?" to which Tuface responded. The senior student was Blackface.

Their path had crossed and that chance meeting transformed into a serious friendship of many years. Both boys kept hooking up in school and at home, particularly at St. Mary's Catholic Church during the holidays.

Upon completing their secondary school education, Tuface and Blackface were admitted and matriculated into Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu to pursue higher studies leading to the award of National Diploma (ND). By 1996, eight solid years after they first met, their chemistry has crystallized, and they put together a popular award-winning music group - Plantashun Boiz..

Later the Boys left Enugu for Festac, Lagos where they hoped to find greener pastures and launch their music careers. In Lagos, they were first accomodated by Blackface's elder brother who held, at that time, rank of a Major in the Nigerian Army.

Tuface and Blackface met a whole lot of people at that time; including Annie Macaulay Idibia (Tuface's wife) who was 17 years-old, Chibuzor (Faze), who later joined Plantashun Boiz, Nelson Brown (their first manager and producer) etc. The rest of the story is now history.

What makes me a bit sad is the sour relationship Tuface and Blackface now share despite their journey of friendship in the past; their struggles without money, food, decent clothing etc;

Reports indicate there is this inexplicable natural bonding and friendship between the two of them as they went about everywhere today. Annie seems grateful for the Love and blessings around her.

She is definitely a proud mum.

STAR TREK BEGINS THIS SATURDAY - CHECK OUT THE SUPERSTARS BOOKED FOR THE EVENT

2face, M.I, Psquare, and Ice Prince are some of the superstars billed to perform at 2013 Star Trek musical tour concert commencing this Saturday in Lagos.

The annual musical tour will kick off with a blast as thousands of fans will gather at Jite Open field, FESTAC town for a blazing night of pure music and electrifying performances

Other artistes billed to perform are Kas, Crystals (i.e winners of 2012 Star Quest), D'banj, Timaya, Wande Coal, Mr.Raw, Dr. Sid,  J.Martins, Naeto C, Tiwa Savage, Phyno, and Olamide.

The Star Music Trek will run for 10 weeks in 10 cities leading to a grand finale at Onikan Stadium in lagos on !0th August.

The nine other cities are: Aba, Abeokuta, Agege(Lagos), Asaba, Enugu, Lokoja, Nnewi, Owerri, and Onikan-Victoria Island Lagos

Gbenga Adeyinka the !st will be the compere at the events.

Tuface Idibia has featured American superstar T-Pain in Rainbow (remix). Tuface being one of the most loved African Music Artiste in history has elevated his career by a notch through this international collaboration.

T-Pain, the vocoder effect lord, is excellent on this remix, and has added his own spice to the already fantastic hit song. Tuface is unrelenting in his career, and his recent wedding seems to have a positive effect on his inspiration.
