KENDRICK LAMAR EMERGES BIGGEST WINNER AT BET HIPHOP AWARDS (WINNER'S LIST)

The 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards has come and gone, leaving us with breath-taking performances and amazing cyphers etched in the back of our minds. And in addition to these not-to-be-forgot experiences of the night, there were also a few awards that were handed out.

The big winner for the night was Kendrick Lamar, who took home five awards, including Album of the Year and MVP of the Year. While, Drake, A$AP Rocky and Jay Z also won multiple awards. The Rookie of the Year award was netted by A$AP Ferg:

RIHANNA CONCERT IN SOUTH AFRICA HAS JUST COMMENCED

i put together this post to inform you all that Rihanna was warmly welcomed by thousands of fans when she touched-down at Johannesburg airport, South Africa a few hours ago (October 12) for both of her stadium concerts in Johannesburg and Cape Town, which are already are sold out!

Justin van Wyk, managing director of Big Concerts(i.e the concert organizers), has said that Rihanna did not make crazy demands ahead of her arrival in SA.

“Rihanna is a true professional and has not made any extraordinary requests, Like every major artist Rihanna has requested furniture, food, beverages and other items required for her comfort and well-being. We cannot disclose what they are, however. She intends to enjoy South African sights and hospitality, and will be in the country for approximately one week.” van Wyk said.

Rihanna was last on South African shores in 2006 when she opened for Jay-Z.

FG DECLARES AUGUST 8 AND 9 PUBLIC HOLIDAYS TO MARK EID-EL-FITRI

The Federal Government has declared August. 8 and August. 9 public holidays to mark the 2013 Eid-el-Fitri celebration.

This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro, on behalf of the Federal Government. The statement was signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Fatima Bamidele.

It urged Muslim faithful to use the spiritual benefits of Ramadan to contribute to the development of the nation. The statement also urged Nigerians to exploit the spiritual benefits of love, joy and peace in their daily living and to use the opportunity of the holidays to reflect on the imperative of peace in nation building.

It wished all Nigerians a rewarding and peaceful celebration.
