4 WAYS FACEBOOK'S MARK ZUCKERBERG USES HIS POWER AND INFLUENCE

29year old Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg
Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg came into the limelight as the weird Harvard University undergraduate who, in 2004, built a website in his hostel apartment and went on to earn billions from it.

But since last year, he has begun to use his wealth of approximately $17 billion to exercise power and influence outside of his Facebook Office Building.

In this brief piece, I write about four ways he has succeeded in doing this with relative ease;

#1. Mark Zuckerberg is increasingly speaking up on global issues:

Zuckerberg has pumped millions of dollars into things like creating a TV advertisement urging US legislators to fix America's 'broken' immigration system. He has equally advocated for issues like helping undocumented immigrants (who were brought into the US as children.) to get American citizenship

#2. He has announced a new effort to bring Web access to nearly 5 billion poor people around the world:

Mark Zuckerberg has called access to the Internet a human right. He pointed out on Wednesday that he believes that everyone deserves to be connected, and on the Internet, so has put in, and will continue to put a lot of money and energy towards doing this, particularly in Africa and Asia.

#3. He has donated to schools and politicians from both Republican and Democratic political parties in America

At age 28, Mark Zuckerberg was the second-most generous giver in the United States.
He doesn't have any direct personal ties to a lot of cities, but in 2010, at age 26, he pledged a whopping $100 million of his fortune to helping out troubled schools.  Zuckerberg later pledged an even bigger sum, nearly $500 million, to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. But his philanthropy didn't stop there. In 2012, his charitable causes ranged from programs that teach immigrants English to groups providing food and shelter to the needy, and to funds for victims of the natural wildfires.

#4. Zuckerberg also spearheaded an effort for saving lives, or making them better:

He helped create the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, an annual award given to researchers whose work is "aimed at curing intractable diseases and extending human life."

The award pays recipients $3 million each -- twice as much as a Nobel Prize.

In conclusion, let us learn a lesson or too from young Zuckerberg about the proper use of power and influence for the betterment of humanity.

I say, Be Inspired!

JOHN DUMELO'S ADVICE TO FANS

John Dumelo
Popular Ghanaian actor - John Dumelo seems to be a good celebrity who's willing to guide many people to stardom. Today, he advised his fans who want to become superstars like him not to easily give up in the face of difficulties.

He shared his words of guidance through one of his social media platforms.

Jmelo (as he likes to call himself) used his Facebook page as a channel for telling every aspiring artiste, including his fans that roadblocks will be met as they strive to reach their goals. However, none of them should despair nor quit trying.

"When you're trying to reach your goals , there will be roadblocks... But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up." He said.

Like a specialist doctor, he recommended what they should do to obstacles and roadblocks on the way to success.

"Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.....dont give up." Dumelo counseled.

As a matter of experience, Jmelo admitted he had also seen roadblocks on his way to stardom , but he conquered them all.

"I've had them; everybody has had them." he concluded.

For me, I agree with Dumelo's philosophy of success!

MAN KILLS WIFE, POSTS HER PICTURE ON FACEBOOK

A man in Florida (USA) has apparently confessed on Facebook to killing his wife and posted a graphic photo of a female corpse, then turned himself in to police.

Reports identified the suspect as Derek Medina, 31, who wrote on his Facebook account that he had killed his wife, Jennifer Alfonso.

Police confirmed a woman was found shot dead in Derek's home and that a girl, about 10 years old, was also found there unharmed and escorted out. Police said the girl was the victim’s daughter.

The couple reportedly married in April 2012.

In his now-deleted Facebook post, Medina said,

“Im going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife love you guys miss you guys takecare Facebook people you will see me in the news my wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I hope u understand me.”

A grisly photograph showed the woman with a bloody cheek and arm, her body apparently in the kitchen.

Police have not yet filed any charges.

Medina said on his Facebook page that he was an actor in the Miami-based crime drama “Burn Notice.”

Ironically, he was also a self-published author and one book was titled “How I Saved Someone’s Life and Marriage and Family Problems thru Communication.”

RIHANNA DETHRONES JUSTIN BIEBER

Justin Bieber, who used to be the Supreme King of all social networks, has been dethroned by Rihanna on Youtube and Facebook. Here is the breakdown:

Youtube subscribers:
Rihanna - 8.73 million
Justin Bieber - 3.7 million

Facebook fans:
Rihanna - 72.5 million
Justin Bieber - 54.2 million

However, on twitter, Justin Bieber still reigns supreme with over 40 million followers putting Lady Gaga, who used to be the queen on twitter, in second place.

In my view, what may have accounted for Rihanna's global dominance on social networking sites is that her music and style appeals to a wider range of people (Old and Young) than Justin Bieber who seems to play for teenagers and young adults.
